The University of Washington’s involvement in paramedic education began in 1969 when a small group of Seattle physicians led by Dr. Leonard A. Cobb, a UW Professor of Medicine and Cardiologist at Harborview Medical Center, recognized the potential for saving the lives of heart attack victims in the streets of the communities.
Paramedic Training students are thrust into a very intense program, both in the classroom and the field. World-class physicians and senior Seattle Fire Department paramedics are at the core of one of the most rigorous training programs in the country.
Seattle/King County Medic One has partnered with University of Washington Medicine, collaborating to advance the science of pre-hospital care including advancements in cardiac arrest.
